Ten Years To Life.

Ten years ago? Yeah, I remember being 11, too. So innocent yet so malevolent. That was me. Uncorrupted, unburdened; and yet, strangely perverted and attuned to the ways of the world.
Ten years from now? I'll be a cougar, past my prime. I told him; yeah, a goddamn cougar. Women don't have much time before they're over the hill. But you can be in your fifties—yeah, he'd have his silver fox status, he said. And a 20 year old on your arm? I bit back; it was a weird way we joked.

And there you have it folks. Starting off the 2014 new year with a little creative writing. So, yeah, first blog post since 2012? Two years is a long time, huh? Trust me, I have my excuses. And really, this blog is just a place for my ego to sit. Let’s just face it:

I really want to do a top 5 list about freeware/abandonware/DOS games but I am really only going to be able to just brush the surface of that subject. So instead I will give out some links to my favourite web sites that offer them. I’m always looking for inexpensive, creative and legitimate ways to get my game on. Maybe you can make a top 5 of your own!

For your OCD listing pleasure, I present:
The Top 5 Legit And Legal Freeware Download Sites
in order from easiest to hardest install difficulty.

GOG.com – Formerly Good Old Games, you will get easy access to 5 freeware games when you sign up for an account. I like this company. They make it a point to search out abandonware games that have been forgotten and make them readily available for the masses. Even if the game only runs on DOS, they make it so all you have to do is click a button and you’re playing the game. Easy!

ScummVM – Script Creation Utility for Manic Mansion Virtual Machine. A program used for those old point and click games (you remember). These guys are pretty cool, you can download ScummVM yourself, and they have 6 freeware games for you to install and try out, as well as cut-scene packs for a couple other ScummVM games. Runs like DOSbox but more… point and click-y.

DOSbox – Really, no adventure into the realm of game’s past is complete with a little DOS struggle. It’s really worth the hassle, because once you know how mount virtual drives in DOSbox, you’ll feel like you can do anything. Instant genius points!

Infocom – I was sceptical about this site at first, but after some snooping, it just seems like a well intentioned fan company-site by someone who wished to share their love of Infocom and the text-based games they created. And I applaud it. This site offers downloads of the games Zork I, II, and III; which are technically abandonware, but abandonware that was offered by the licensee himself at one point. Awareness!

Elderscrolls.com Arena & Daggerfall – Downloads offered by Bethesda themselves, “as is”, of course. Great it you’re a fan of the series and want to see where it all started from. Or maybe you just want a good DOSbox challenge and you like deciphering conflicting instruction documents (yes, there are different ways to do the same thing).

Hopefully you can find something interesting with this visit, and if not, then maybe we are playing the same games? Leave a comment!

“Am I Pretty Now?!” He Asked Vehemently.

So I recently purchased some red ankle jeans. I was mostly excited because they’re red. Oh, so colourful, so perfect for fall. Little did I know, ankle jeans are a new style, actually they’ve been around for a while. Took off in spring, from what I know. But that just goes to show how on top of things I am.

Anyways, ankle jeans are like skinny jeans, but categorized by their short inseam. Which, if you have been following fashion rules for all your life, you know is a BIG FAUX PAS. Always find clothes that fit, pants shouldn’t show your socks when you sit, and so on.

Not the case with these; now I don’t mind a shorter inseam once in a while, and on my legs that’s 31” at the most. At least I’m learning this now, right? Well the pants I ordered are 29 inches long. I didn’t seem to think 2 inches would make a lot of difference when I found them. I mean, I could have chose the 28” inseam, right?

But they finally arrive and I try them on; I feel a bit too tall, and not in a good way. I’m only 5’8”, and for women, they are categorized tall after 5’7”. So I’m not a total freak, just on the borders of it. Maybe kind of falling off the edge of it. Okay yes I’m a freak and I go to lengths to stay that way.

Here are some self shots; I tried to pull off the trend with the ankle boots and wearing a black/white top. I think it worked a little, but I’m still not fond of how short me pants be.

I apologize for the lighting and not using flash. So what do you guys think? Should people be able to see your ankles if you’re wearing pants? I want to know other peoples opinion on this trend, or just coloured jeans in general. Here are some of my favourite colour jeans I own:

West Coast Amusements, The Zipper, Williams Lake, BC, carnie

Hey all out there! Here’s a little treat for you all, a video I made, of myself. Yes that is me. One of the first videos of this kind I have made and posted on the interwebs for whoever would care to view. It’s a video entry for Warehouse One’s Show Us Your Haul Contest. I created it with a style/how-to-wear type of vlog in mind. So here you go! Enjoy.

Video with the most views wins! Contest ends September 16th, thanks for watching!

Here’s a bonus cookie; my boyfriend’s contest entry that I helped him make. (Haha, gotta get the credit in there.) Or maybe it was more like forced to make?

Shitty sound quality brought to you by my beat up Nikon Cool Pix. Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Gentle Cultivation Of How To Culture The Cultured.

So it’s almost been two years since I remembered about this blog. I’ve decided I will dedicate it to the things I love in art and culture. No more personal rants, those belong on Facebook, or the mini-blogs of Twitter. Which you can follow me at of course, I don’t mind. As long as your profile checks out. Hah.

Haven’t done too much in those past two years, culture-wise. Recently bought a cheap dime-store sketchbook, just for the sake of having something to draw in. All my nice sketchbooks are in storage, and it was only a dollar; but the binding sucks. That would definitely be something to look for when purchasing a drawing pad.

Let’s see, I’ll throw some top 5 lists at you, High Fidelity style.
What’s New & Current:

Top 5 CD’s Playing In My Car:
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californiacation

3. Green Salad with Garlic Balsamic Vinaigrette
2. Udon Stir-fry with Broccoli and Vegetarian Tips

Well I hope that helps you get a look into my mind’s eye. I was able to get out last winter for the 2011-2012 season a few times and experience the quant ski-hill life at Mt. Timothy and Sun Peaks, here in BC. Hope to do the same this year, with maybe a few equipment upgrades and new hills to shred. New boots and bindings, and a Ruroc helmet would be luxurious.

snowboarding, volcom, K2 siren,

I’ll try to get more pictures in with my posts in the near future. Looking at a blog with all words is never any fun. Besides, we want colour and life and vibrancy!

Best thing about this post so far; having to add so many names to the spell-check’s dictionary. I am culturing my software! Thanks for tuning in, cheers!

I Am An Exuberant, Burning Spheroid Of Mighty Foliage.

I just found this draft that I never finished over a year ago, and I think it deserves a spot. If you’ve never heard of the Mighty Boosh so far, then you are in for a treat.

Hurray for 2011, hey? Doesn’t it feel like you’re a part of something big? Like the past decade and the one that is a head of us. What is the new decade going to be called when it is looked back on? The last 10 years were called the 2000’s (stupid name), will it be the 20-teens? And then the 20-20’s? And so on. Hah. Strange to think about.

For the past week, I’ve been obsessed with the Mighty Boosh. What is new? Tayler is obsessed with something again. Absolutely nothing, except that those guys are wicked awesome, and even that is not new news.

Top 5 Reasons Why The Mighty Boosh Is So Fantastic:

5. The characters and their actors. Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding are mighty fine. First of all, they are the brains behind the Boosh, and also the beautiful faces!

4. The stylization; campy, psychedelic, a bit surreal, colourful, weird, wonderful, crazy. Pretty much everything I love.

3. The music; songs written by Julian Barratt for the show and characters. A lot of funk, a touch of jazz, all awesome.

2. The censorship, of which there is very little. Moments that make you think; this was on the telly? Well, in the 2 am slot, of course. Art on the broadcast.

1. The comedy! Dry British humour doing it’s best in an colourful world.

5 brilliant men, 3 seasons, and a bucket-full of episodes.
